Unemployment Rate Falls Slowly
-
The Labor Department reported Friday that the nation’s unemployment rate was mostly unchanged, falling slightly to 9.4 % during July.
According to the latest government figures, 331,000 jobs were lost nationwide last month across a wide variety of industries. However, the current job loss figure is still significantly lower than the 645,000 average decline that was recorded between November and April.
The Labor Department indexed that there were 14.5 million unemployed Americans as of July. There were also said to be 2.3 million workers marginally attached to the labor force, which is up from the average of 709,000 recorded last year.
